Cube’s aim when developing the new Tonopah Pro aluminium frame was to increase efficiency, stability and ride comfort while at the same time decreasing weight. To that end the frame features a double butted tube set joined using the elaborate smooth welding process. A hard anodized finish saves at least 100g by itself. The large contact surface between the down tube and the tapered headtube generates more stiffness, which directly translates into more control. This is also the reason for the fork’s tapered aluminium steerer – because the resultis simply an improved ride. Additional details like the cable routing inside the down tube and the replaceable derailleur hanger add even more functionality to the bike.

The complete Shimano XT groupset on the Tonopah combines top shifting and braking performance with class leading durabilityand a very low weight. The trekking-specific XT Hollowtech II crank set provides a wide spread of 30 gears. Rapidfire Plus shifters with I-Spec integration result in a very uncluttered cockpit. The light CSW MA 1.9 wheels and Schwalbe´s Smart Sam Kevlar Evolution foldingbead tyres are fast to accelerate and very precise. The Suntour NCX E-RL airsprung suspension fork provides plenty of comfort on rough roads and paths, but hardly burdens the scale due to its tapered alloy steerer tube.
